We have a very low ratio of children to staff. This insures that from nursery to primary school your child is always closely supervised and encouraged in their studies and their behaviour. Our classes are limited to 12 children per class and we maintain a 3 to 1 student to staff ratio to maximize the child’s learning experience and to insure your children’s safety. Each class has an experienced native English speaking teacher with a college degree as well as a Thai teaching assistant. We employ four experienced assistant teachers. They help the teachers supervise the classes and help give our children a shower after their lunch and their mid-day playtime in our spacious outdoor yard and playground. Three of our Thai assistant teachers have earned their Thai Government Nursery, Kindergarten, Pre-School teaching certificates. All of our staff truly love children and we all enjoy working with them, especially as we see the children learn, grow and develop into more accomplished and rounded individuals. We have found we are able to hire more qualified staff because of our Monday to Friday 7:30 to 5:00 schedule. This allows mothers more time with their own children and allows other staff to attend college courses on the weekend. One of our teaching assistants is a trained registered nurse and our cook is a professional hotel cook. Both work with us because it allows them more time with their young children.
Our American/Dutch Thai management team has now run the school for almost five years and we have found that being surrounded by young happy and eager kids has proven to be an extremely satisfying and rewarding experience.
We take pride in employing high quality teachers at Buds International School Phuket. Standards and expectations are held high in order to ensure we supply our learners with the best teaching team available. Classrooms at Buds International School Phuket are carefully designed with a Native English Speaking teacher; with a University degree, as well as a Thai teaching assistant.
One important factor that we will continuously provide is a small student to teacher ratio. Classroom size has a large effect on learning experience. Several studies have shown that reducing class size increases overall student achievement, especially for younger children. Our small class sizes allow for personalized attention, better educational results, and an environment which will support the highest well-being of the child.

Since joining Buds International School Phuket in January 2019, I have been genuinely impressed by the dedication of the teachers and members of administration in helping students realize their potential and develop their strengths both in and out of the classroom. In my ten years of teaching experience, this school community is one of the best I have ever worked with and I am glad to have the opportunity to work for the school as the Head Teacher. I started my career as a primary school teacher in New Zealand where I became accustomed to teaching the mainstream New Zealand curriculum to mostly Maori and Pacific Island students in South Auckland .
As a result of my experience teaching students from a mostly non-English speaking backgrounds, I decided I needed to find ways of making their time in the classroom both more productive and enjoyable so I enrolled in a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching English as Second Language at Auckland University.
I then realized that this qualification gave me the option of teaching overseas. As a result I spent the next twenty years teaching at many schools in South East Asia . I am subsequently accustomed to both the International School and Thai National curriculums . I am also aware of the problems non native speakers face when learning English and in developing teaching strategies to address these hurdles. I enjoy teaching immensely and am a firm believer in being a prepared classroom teacher
